INDIANAMA

INDIANAMA

Launched three years ago, Indianama is an initiative by New Delhi-based creative agency Animal, who define the platform as their endeavour to redefine the discourse revolving around Indian design.

In 2017, for the nation’s 70th independence day, the second edition of Indianama introduced a reimagination of the country in the face of the world. The world still thinks of India as the land of temples and snakecharmers, at once tremendously dusty and unimaginably vibrant. Where travel imagery is concerned, however, this near-cliché depiction is more harmful than it is helpful. There is far, far more than might meet the eye; the current crop of hackneyed, one-dimensional portrayals wasn’t helping any causes.

‘What does India truly look like to you?’ was the one-liner brief given to the 70 talented designers from home and away. From the get-go, a motion-based element was implemented to bring the artworks to life – a true ode to a nation that never stops moving.
